Dear Councillor Jones,
As the Deputy Principal of West London College, I personally cycle the route between Kings Cross and the West End.
I welcome the recent modifications to the cycle facilities in Tavistock Place and Torrington Place. It feels significantly safer. I very much hope the present arrangements are made permanent.
We employ over 40 staff and have over 800 attending the college. Many of our staff and students choose to cycle to work. An even larger proportion would undoubtedly cycle if they felt comfortable and safe on the roads.
We value the satisfaction, health, and freedom of our staff and students and we feel a special responsibility to do the most we can to ensure the health and safety of our students. That’s why we support Camden Council in making adequate space available in Tavistock Place and Torrington Place.
As an organisation involved in education, we are also excited about this opportunity to tackle London’s the hazards of air pollution. The protected cycle lanes will make active travel a real option for everyone, not just the young and fit.
The scheme is good for our organisation, for health, and for all Londoners whether they cycle or not.
We support the scheme and ask you to ensure that it is retained.
Kind regards, Neil
