Supporting the Tavistock/Torrington Place Cycling Scheme

I am the Chief Executive of Profile Books, one of Britain’s leading independent publishers based in WC1.  I am writing in support of the Tavistock Place Trial.  I cycle to work every day (from NW5 – also in Camden) and, in the course of my business, am often out and about on my bike during the day.

Profile Books has many cycling enthusiasts amongst its 40 employees, many of whom cycle to work regularly.  An even larger proportion of my colleagues would cycle to the office if they felt comfortable and safe on the roads – particularly the women.

The excellent provision for cycling in the Tavistock/Torrington Place trial matters a lot to all of us who use it.  It enables us to get around easily – and most importantly safely.  It is definitely one of the attractions of the neighbourhood to us.  As far as I can see the trial has been wholly successful with many benefits – like less pollution for the students at UCL.

The cycle scheme is enhances my well-being and that of my employees.  It matters to us a lot.  Please ensure that it is retained.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely

Andrew Franklin
